Michaela Gammon Takes 3rd at 1A State Championship

CONGRATS TO MICHAELA GAMMON ON FINISHING 3rd PLACE AT 1A XC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Course conditions were less than ideal for the state meet on Saturday at Ivey Redmond in Kernersville.  However, that did not deter Michaela from coming out to compete on Saturday and somewhat shock/surprise the 1A NC running community by placing 3rd in the state championship race.  

Michaela had tremendous race strategy in not trying to be first at the one mile and slowly worked her way up through the field until with less than one mile left she had moved her way up to third place comfortably.

Her finish was stellar in holding off two close competitors to capture 3rd place.  This was the highest LCS finish since Sophia Bhalla's individual state championship in 2012.

Senior Taylor Hughes finished half way through the pack at 53.

On the guys side Kenny Schild finished 42nd in a field of 136.
