Good Morning
Congrats parents and guardians on an excellent day on Saturday! Your love and support of our runners are what makes LCS a special place to teach and coach. We have the best parents in the state hands down! I want to commend all of you on that.
Saturday, Nov 4 is the NCHSAA 1A State Championship meet.
The meet will be held at
Ivey Redmond Sports Complex
1A Boys race at 10:00 a.m.
1A Girls race at 11:00 a.m.
This will be an overnight trip. I plan on leaving LCS this Friday around 12:45/1:00. We will travel to our hotel, check in, relax for a few minutes then head to Ivey Redmond for a short practice/walkthrough.
This year as in the past, we will allow student-athletes to stay in their parent's rooms if they so choose. I want to make sure they are as comfortable as possible and get a good nights rest. If your student-athlete so chooses to do so just let us know ASAP so we can adjust room assignments. Coaches will make room assignments.
I will be posting a detailed minute by minute itinerary on the blog and will push it out to you hopefully by Tomorrow afternoon/Wednesday a.m. at the latest. I just wanted to touch base today with what is coming up and what is to be expected.
If you have been on a state championship trip (running or swimming) with Coach Ross or myself, you know that we are very detail driven and have schedules that we stick to keep the runners focused and accounted for even during "down time".
We will also most likely be catering in Olive Garden for Friday evenings meal and will communicate more about this and what needs we will have for Saturday breakfast.
For this week we ask you guys to help the runners focus on the details. Hydration, nutrition, rest are huge at this point. We also ask you to keep the mood VERY POSITIVE and supportive. Our kids feed off of the negative energy. If they seem down or negative, spin it to make it light and positive. Also, if we need anything of you, Coach Ross or I will ask you. Thanks for all the help but this is a very full week, to say the least for he and I. Cross country is our top priority until Saturday. We also as coaches need to stay frustration free and be able to deal with the big picture things and stay focused as well.
Again, CONGRATS on a great job this year in supporting your young folks! Our XC staff appreciates all of your volunteering, love, support, and effort in what we are doing which is ultimately helping to turn little boys and girls into STRONG MEN and WOMEN with a strong moral code and virtue.
God Bless
Coach Williams
