Congrats LCS Men's Golf!

Inline image 2
Congratulations to LCS Men's Golf Team and Coach Seitz!
LCS Golf has added another state championship banner to the wall. Our boys won the NCHSAA 1A state championship by 13 strokes over CSD at Whispering Pines. The Eagles were led by Justin Morgan (+3), Harrison Hall and William Crook (+9) over the two day 36 hole tournament. Dylan Land(+25), Harrison Hall(+12), and Jake Houser(+27) all contributed in a strong final day to bring home the team championship.

On a personal note, congrats to my great friend and co-worker Coach Seitz on this accomplishment!  There is not any other person that is more deserving of this great honor.

Milesplit Articles / NCAA Clearinghouse

Here are links to two great articles from Milesplit.

This first article is written from a veteran coaches perspective for what recruiting/choosing the right fit for your runner.  Several of you guys or your kids will be rolling into your Junior year and prime time for colleges to start looking and recruiting. Really good advice!

Three Things Parents Must Understand Going into the Recruiting Process

This article is written from a parent's perspective about raising a "track star".  It is written by Lisa Rainsberger a graduate of the University of Michigan and a former Boston and Chicago Marathon winner.  I love the emphasis she discusses on multi-sport athletes and enjoying the high school experience.

A Parent's Guide to Raising a Track Star

One other point of emphasis I would like to touch on now that we are moving to the end of the T&F season and the start of XC summer training/workouts is NCAA Clearinghouse. The NCAA Clearinghouse is an organization outside of the NCAA which performs academic record evaluations to determine if a prospective student-athlete is eligible to participate at a NCAA Division I or II college as a freshman student-athlete.  This is not a recruiting too.  Those of you that are rising juniors and think you may want to run in college need to complete this process this summer.  This sooner the better.  It is ok for rising Sophomores to as well but you can wait until the latter part of your 10th-grade year.  The link below will help you with the process.  Please contact me if you need assistance as well.

There is light rain forecast to begin around 4:00 on Thursday, it is possible that some events may be run in light rain.  Everyone knows what kind of track we have, so please tell your athletes to plan accordingly.

We will be hand-timing the 100/110 hurdles and Big Kahuna Timing will be timing everything else on Thursday.

Entries for SPAC 1A Championship

Below are the individual entries for the SPAC 1A meet at Bessemer City.  Please check for your events.  We will discuss relays at practice.  A few of you are not entered in individual events because we were limited to three athletes per event.  Please check with your specific coach concerning relays.  Just because you are not in an individual event does not mean you are not in a relay.  We will also be reviewing these at practice today.

Right now there is talk of a few different scenarios because of the weather on Thursday of how and when this meet will take place.  There is a good chance all field events will be moved to Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. and all running will be done Thursday to try and beat the weather that we have moving in.  I will update this post when I know more around noon today.
